Rarely does someone create a new art form. Most of us are followers. By creating the jewelry form of Mokume Gane over 30 years ago, George Sawyer stands alone at the pinnacle of this art. The graceful curves and folds of 25 layers of metal are one-of-a-kind for each ring. Worn daily, these rings take on the characteristics of the life lived, aging gracefully over the years as more texture and curves are revealed. “Mirror Image” rings are created and cut from the same folded billet, resulting in identical one-of-a-kind matching rings for each person, never to be duplicated.
