In the USA, programs and training for jewelry making are much less strenuous and a formal apprenticeship system does not exist.

Cold forging precious metals means that each item of jewelry is created by hand from a solid piece of gold or platinum - carved-extruded-hammered-shaped-sanded-polished - never using a model, mold or die. Cold forging produces gold or platinum rings of exceptional hardness because the metal was never melted or cast which can leave porosity and pits. The hammering actually compresses metal, making it harder than the original piece. This also means the metal is more scratch resistant to withstand the wear and tear of a life's journey. It will look as good in 20 years as it does today.
